Description
Faculty attending this workshop will design an assignment that uses this year’s Common Reading book, A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah. This workshop will assist faculty in the design or re-design of an assignment to meet the GLO Learning Goal of Cultivating Intercultural Competence by Examining a Single Issue from Multiple Perspectives.
Objectives
- Implement an assignment that demonstrates their students can examine a single issue from multiple perspectives.
Prerequisites
- Familiarize yourself with the Common Reading book, A Long Way Gone
- Bring either a FYS assignment related to the book or simply a willingness to develop one in this workshop.
