Facilitator: Julie Taubman, Research and Sponsored Programs

The transfer of certain items, software, and technology to non-U.S. persons and foreign destinations is restricted by regulations collectively referred to as “export controls.” Export controls apply to a range of activities including purchasing, research, and international travel. This workshop will provide an understanding of export controls and the University policies established to ensure compliance with these regulations.

  • Comply with export control regulations when traveling abroad.
  • Recognize situations where export control regulations may apply.
  • Understand the fundamental research exclusion to export control regulations.
  • Identify Appalachian’s procedures to address export controls.
  • Know the current U.S. sanctions programs.
