Description
Microaggressions occur all around us - and yet, they often go unnoticed and unaddressed. In this session, we will discuss what microaggressions are, how they may look different depending on the context, and how we can interrupt and intervene, whether we are on the receiving or enacting end of the microaggression.
More about the Let's Get Started Series: Let’s Get Started is a series of interactive workshops designed to introduce students, faculty, and staff to key concepts in the realm of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Through these sessions, we engage in discussion, activities, and reflection to help us understand how and why DEI is integral to our campus culture. We also discuss– and practice, effective strategies to implement knowledge developed through this series. Participants can expect to walk away from this series with concrete knowledge, skills, and strategies to integrate DEI into their daily lives at App State and beyond.
Let’s Get Started features 3 home-grown sessions, facilitated by Office of Diversity staff members, and 2 sessions facilitated by Identiversity. To get the most out of this series, we recommend participating in all of the sessions, ideally in order.
