Description

This workshop is designed to assist Common Reading discussion leaders find strategies for engaging students during their discussion sessions on the Common Reading text for 2016-17, So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed. The workshop will cover some of the different disciplinary approaches that discussion leaders might used to frame the text, and it will help discussion leaders identify and use various techniques to encourage active student participation.

We are offering this workshop at several times to allow you to select a time that best fits your schedule. Each workshop is limited to 20 persons.

Objectives

  • 1. Identify at least three themes with broad and generalizable significance that can be directly connected to the book So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed;
  • 2. Successfully lead a group of freshmen in a wide ranging discussion about those and other themes and ideas found in So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed;
  • 3. Generally Motivate students to actively participate and discuss the book;
