Description

The U.S. Department of Labor recently updated its regulations related to criteria for positions to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Primarily, these regulatory changes increase the minimum weekly salary required for a position to be exempt, from the current $455 to $913 ($47,476 annually for a full-time position). All covered employers must be compliant with these new regulations by December 1, 2016.

As we continue to work with leadership and employees in affected areas on our campus to implement the new rules, it is important that we help all campus supervisors understand essential labor standards rules and their responsibilities under these rules. Join us for supervisor training sessions on the topic.

These sessions will cover topics including: • Fair Labor Standards Act Basics • Overtime and Compensatory Time Rules • Exemptions from Overtime • New Federal Regulations and Implications for our Campus • Tracking Work Hours • Travel, Meeting and Training Time Rules • Supervisor Responsibilities

Objectives

  • Become familiar with the basic principles of FLSA.
  • Understand new federal regulations and your responsibilities as a supervisor pertinent to them.
