Course Description

This workshop is designed to help faculty better understand university policies relevant to health, safety and liability for students participating in faculty-led education abroad programs.

Participants will have the opportunity to hear from university administrators on how to monitor health and safety issues in the chosen countries of destination, the approved university process of dealing with crisis cases while on a study abroad program and to share best practices on such issues with their peers.

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • 1. Describe university policies and procedures related to health, safety and liability relevant to faculty-led education abroad programs.
  • 2. Answer commonly asked questions on how to handle crises while leading faculty-led programs abroad.
  • Apply best practices learned from fellow faculty in dealing with health, safety, and liability issues when leading student groups abroad.
