Description

Imagine your last incident with an agitated student or colleague. Maybe it was a struggle about a grade or an argument about the division of labor. Did you see the warning signs? Did your response defuse the situation or escalate it? This workshop focuses on the prevention of and intervention in challenging behavior in the workplace. Come learn how to be calm, achieve calm, and communicate effectively with those who are fearful, angry, or frustrated.

Objectives

  • Identify behavioral warning signs
  • Name and perform six non-verbal behaviors that de-escalate agitation
  • Name and perform six verbal behaviors that escalate/de-escalate agitation
