Description
The purpose of this workshop is to assist faculty in academic programs in writing functional student learning goals and outcomes. After briefly discussing what makes a “good” learning outcome, there will be time to work on improving a program’s already published student learning outcomes.
Objectives
- Explain the importance of having functional student learning outcomes for a program or course
- Distinguish between a weak and a strong student learning outcome
- Apply Bloom’s taxonomy in writing effective student learning outcomes
- Identify words or phrases to avoid in writing effective student learning outcomes
- Revise one of your program’s published student learning outcomes to make it functional
