Facilitator: Clark Maddux, Summer Reading Program
The workshop will allow discussion leaders to explore various ways to engage students in conversation about American Dervish, assist discussion leaders in treating the book from a variety of perspectives, and identify ways to encourage active student engagement in their own education.
We are offering this workshop at several times to allow you to select a time that best fits your schedule. Each workshop is limited to 25 persons, the approximate size of each of the discussion sections with freshmen on Saturday, August 17.
Objectives
- Identify three themes in the book American Dervish;
- Lead a group of freshmen in discussion about themes in American Dervish;
- Motivate students to participate and discuss the material.
