Description
Facilitated by: Maria Anastasiou and Adam Julian, Office of International Education and Development
This workshop will use fun activities and discussions to introduce participants to the world of intercultural awareness. Beginning with an examination of the participants own “cultural lens” and how values impact cross-cultural interactions, participants will begin to examine their understanding of the “other” and to adapt their communication and practices to the cultural context and needs of Appalachian’s diverse populations.
Objectives
- Develop awareness of your own cultural perspectives that inform your thinking, actions, and feelings about others
- Develop skills to help you more effectively interact with people from different cultures
- Improve your ability to support people from other cultures in a culturally appropriate way
