Description

Through this program, supervisors will be given tools that are beneficial in navigating the disciplinary process as it relates to employee absenteeism and will also become familiar with available leave options that will offer job protection for eligible employees.

Objectives

  • Supervisors will learn how to navigate the difficult subject of employee attendance/absenteeism issues and how to act in the most appropriate and timely manner, and in accordance with State policy
  • Supervisors will learn how to distinguish between employee abuse of leave time as opposed to valid reasons, such as health concerns
  • Supervisors will learn how to evaluate individual excessive leave situations, whether it be long-term or intermittently, and become familiar with the following options: Family and Medical Leave, Voluntary Shared Leave, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability
