Description
Bring your lunch and join us for this special session on Forest Bathing!
About: Forest therapy, also called “forest bathing” or “shinrin-yoku,” is a mindfulness practice that encourages participants to slow down, take in the forest atmosphere with their five senses and give the overtaxed, thinking part of the brain a much-needed rest. It also allows time to breathe in trees’ compounds that have been scientifically shown to boost our immunity, lower stress, and improve mood and creativity. Engage in an example of forest bathing while learning more about this increasingly popular activity and how it can support the well-being of faculty, staff and students.
Bio: Linda Coutant, Ed.D., retired from App State in 2021 and remains engaged on campus as an adjunct instructor in the Department of Communication. She is a certified Koru Mindfulness instructor who led meditation classes at App State and is now a certified forest therapy guide. Linda runs Breathe With Trees Forest Therapy.
