Description
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce or provide a refresher to faculty on student learning outcome assessment. The workshop will address the purpose of assessment and general steps in the assessment process.
Objectives
- Explain the purpose of assessment
- Identify the steps in the assessment cycle
- Distinguish between a weak and a strong student learning outcome
- Provide examples of direct measures of student learning
- Define what is meant by “continuous improvement”
- Explain what to include in each part of an assessment report at Appalachian
