Description
Looking for a few free web tools and apps you might use in your class or with your AsULearn course? This workshop provides an overview to 12 web tools that might support teaching and learning in your class. We will also discuss how these tools can be used with AsULearn.
Presenters will explore and provide instruction in using the tools in teaching, setting up accounts and addressing questions that might arise. Participants will access AsULearn and have hands-on experience in using these tools and accessing sites activities. We will also discuss best practices and tips for using these tools in your course.
The tools covered are subject to change, but would likely include several of the following: Wordle, PollEverywhere, Picnik, WallWisher, Voicethread, TypeWithMe, Today’s Meet, Aviary Suite, Google Apps and Jing
Objectives
- Access and participate in selected web-based applications
- Explore basic ways web tools might be used to support teaching in online environment.
- Discuss best practices for using web tools in online environments..
- List ways the showcased web tools can be used in teaching.
Prerequisites
- Although not a Prerequiste, attending an AsULearn QuickStart is highly recommended. In addition participants should be comfortable surfing the web and using a browser.
