Description
Increasing numbers of military-affiliated students are arriving on Appalachian State's campus bringing with them important contributions that enrich our classrooms and campus community. At the same time, it is not uncommon for these students to feel overwhelmed or alienated during their first semesters at college and to struggle with the constraints of VA educational and occupational programs, as well as continued service.
This training will focus on explicating some of the benefits and struggles of service members and provide information and tools curated to develop intercultural communication understanding and skills.
Note: Participants are welcome to meet with the facilitators after the workshop for further discussion and to have individual questions answered.
