Description
Faculty often encounter moments of tension with students—whether in the classroom, over email, or in other interactions—that don’t rise to the level of formal conduct violations but still disrupt teaching and learning. These situations can leave professors feeling isolated, unsure of next steps, and uncertain about where to turn for support.
This collaborative workshop, hosted by CETLSS, Student Success, and the Office of the Dean of Students, offers a space to explore practical strategies for managing challenging classroom dynamics. We’ll discuss patterns of student behavior, share tools for proactive engagement and real-time response, and clarify institutional roles and resources. Through case studies and reflective dialogue, participants will explore concrete approaches for fostering respectful, effective learning environments—even when things get tough.
