Description

Note-taking is an overlooked learning tool that deepens understanding and retention. Yet many students don't take notes or struggle to take useful notes, often defaulting to passive transcription or minimal engagement. This workshop explores how intentional strategies and accessible course design supports better note-taking practices without adding significant work to your teaching load.

In this 50-minute session, we'll look at a range of ways you can support better note-taking, including designing slides and materials that promote active note-taking rather than passive copying, incorporating guided note-taking templates and frameworks, out-of-the-box note-taking via mapping and diagramming, planning lessons to encourage reflection and synthesis, and aligning note-taking practices with learning objectives and assessments.
