Description

Interested in taking a firsthand look at local community service agencies that address the needs and concerns of children and parenting? This workshop is for faculty who are interested in connecting with such agencies and learning more about what they do and how students in service-learning classes can connect.

This workshop will take place off-campus as we travel together to OASIS, W.A.M.Y. Community Action, Children’s Council of Watauga County, and the Western Youth Network. We’ll spend about 45-60 minutes at each site.

Objectives

  • Identify the needs of local community service agencies
  • Consider ways that faculty and service-learning students can connect with community partners.
  • Learn the best practices of campus-community partnerships
