Description

The Center for Academic Excellence and the Inclusive Excellence Team invites you to participate in a book discussion, which will focus on Sara Ahmed's "On Being Included: Racism and Diversity in Institutional Life."

The book provides an account of institutional whiteness and shows how racism can be obscured by the institutionalization of diversity. During this session, we will discuss Sarah Ahmed's accounts of the diversity world based on interviews with diversity practitioners in higher education, as well as her own experience of doing diversity work.

Upon registration, participants will receive a complimentary copy of the book via intercampus mail in early January 2019.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Note: This session will be offered to Departmental Inclusive Excellence Liaisons only. An alternate session will be offered to the campus community on February 8th from 3:00-4:30pm.
