Description

Relational statistical tests are used when the researcher wants to investigate relationships among mostly continuous variables. In this workshop, we will cover the two most common relational tests: correlations and multiple regression. We will also introduce you to how to handle categorical variables and interactions (aka, moderation) in a regression framework.

Facilitators: Tyler Pyle, Office of Research Data Analysis, Office of Research

Twila Wingrove, Office of Research Data Analysis, Office of Research

Objectives

  • Define when relational tests are appropriate (as compared to mean differences tests)
  • Identify which test is appropriate for different research questions
  • Conduct and interpret a correlation and multiple regression
  • Understand how to add categorical variables and interactions into a regression model
