Description

Developing an online course in which learners feel connected to content, peers, and the instructor is critical to developing an effective and engaging online learning experience. As such, this session will focus on applying strategies and developing activities focused on developing community and a sense of presence. Discussions and activities will focus on strategies for facilitating engagement, presence, and community. Particular attention will be paid to sharing ideas and strategies, as well as identifying evidence-based pedagogical approaches.

Objectives

  • Discuss the role and importance of developing community and presence in online courses.
  • Identify approaches for translating face to face activities to online courses.
