Description

Mean differences statistical tests are used when comparing two or more groups in research (e.g., control/intervention, early adults/middle adults/older adults). In this workshop, we will cover the two most common mean differences tests: t-tests and ANOVA. We will also introduce the concept of interactions (aka, moderation).

Facilitators: Zach Morgan, Office of Research Data Analysis, Office of Research

Twila Wingrove, Office of Research Data Analysis, Office of Research

Objectives

  • Define when mean differences tests are appropriate (as compared to relational tests)
  • Identify which test is appropriate for different research designs
  • Conduct a t-test, a one-way ANOVA, and a two-way ANOVA
  • Interpret a two-way interaction
