Description

During this workshop, participants will discuss the foundations of civic engagement, syllabus design, service-learning course objectives, appropriate reflections/writing assignments for service-learning classes, nuts-and-bolts of community involvement, and the role of civic engagement in tenure and promotion.

Faculty members of any rank are invited to be a part of the spring cohort of faculty fellows.

Participants will receive a $250 stipend for attending all sessions. An additional $250 is available for fellows who present on civic engagement or their experience utilizing service-learning at a conference.

Participation in this program means attending workshops for two days followed by a luncheon where we discuss a syllabus you are developing.

During the Spring 2020 semester, we'll have our faculty fellows sessions during the following dates/times:

Tuesday, February 18, 2020; 8:45am-3:30pm

Thursday, February 20, 2020; 8:45am-3:30pm

Thursday, March 19, 2020; 11:30am-1:30pm (Syllabus luncheon)

Understanding that these times and dates may fall when faculty members are in class, coverage can be made for a presentation on civic engagement to your students/classes on times that you will be in the fellows program. Someone from the ACT office can cover your classes during those times by filling out the following online form or by clicking on the "Additional Information" link: http://engagement.appstate.edu/teaching-resources/dont-cancel-class
