Description
Increasing members of veterans and active-duty military are arriving on Appalachian's campus, bringing with them important contributions, such as maturity and leadership potential. At the same time, it is not uncommon for these students to feel overwhelmed or alienated during their first semesters at college and to struggle with the constraints of VA educational and occupational programs.
Prior to the workshop, a short survey will be distributed to participants to determine their level of familiarity with working with student veterans and their knowledge of typical concerns that student veterans face. Responses will be used to help frame the workshop.
Facilitators: Eric Gormly, Student Veteran Services Jennifer Coffey, Financial Aid Lynn Searfoss, English
