Description
The online environment presents unique challenges and opportunities for developing relationships both between the instructor and individual students as well as among students. In this session, we will explore ways we can leverage the characteristics of the virtual classroom to allow students to feel seen and to experience an authentic sense of community.
Objectives
- Design activities and approaches for meaningful relationship-building in on-line classes
- Articulate a rationale for the importance of fostering relationships in on-line (and all) classes
- Recognize ways in which our response to building relationships during the current situation can change our post-pandemic teaching for the better
