Description

In this workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to practice mindfulness through visual journaling. Visual journaling is an arts-based and expressive practice that blends images, words, and doodling to prepare for, process, or reflect on experiences. One can engage in visual journaling in order to dream, plan, research, or simply visualize your “to do” list. Visual journaling may also be incorporated into course design, planning, pedagogy, assessment, and the research process. *No artistic experience or training is required. *A limited selection of materials and supplies will be provided.

Suggestions if you’d like to bring supplies: Journal or loose-leaf papers Pencils, pens, markers, crayons, and/or other writing tools Glue stick or adhesive Scissors Found materials– such as sticks, rocks, cardboard, bottle caps, etc. Other “artsy” materials as desired– such as watercolor paints, acrylic paints, tissue paper, stickers, etc. A creative spirit and eagerness to work with imagery

Objectives

  • Experience the value of visual journaling as a mindfulness opportunity.
  • Identify simple strategies for incorporating visual journaling into your daily life.
  • Share in the process of creating with colleagues.
