Description
This workshop will cover AppState's history as it relates to our Indigenous communities and landscapes, as well as how that history intersects with larger conversations about current Indigenous-led movements; best practices when implementing land acknowledgments and action items; and how to facilitate an open conversation for questions and community-building around these initiatives.
Objectives
- To educate and support faculty, staff, and student leaders who wish to implement Appalachian State’s new Indigenous land acknowledgment and the Acknowledgment to Action goals in their courses and programming.
- To discuss related action items that nourish an Indigenous presence and inclusion on campus.
