Description
The App Allies LGBTQ+ inclusive professional development for faculty & staff will increase awareness of Appalachian State employees about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and other sexual orientations and gender identities. This foundational training includes online modules on ASULearn and an in-person meeting to provide participants with understanding of language and terminology, the systems that contribute to marginalized experiences, how to be in solidarity with LGBTQ+ members of the App State community, and the development of accountability practices to create a more inclusive campus.
If you have participated in previous App Allies trainings, we encourage you to attend this new and updated professional development event!
Objectives
- Objective: We will explore best practices for supporting LGBTQ+ students and colleagues, current university policies, and resources.Participants will first complete self-paced online learning modules on ASULearn, and then participate in an in-person training. Completion of the online modules is required to attend the in-person events to prepare for in-depth and informed conversation.
