Description
Mental Health First Aid training (MHFA) is a specialized course endorsed by The National Council for Mental Wellbeing. This evidence-based curriculum is intended for individuals who are interested in acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to effectively support individuals demonstrating early or worsening signs of a mental health challenge. The comprehensive training covers a wide range of mental health issues, including but not limited to anxiety disorders, depression, panic attacks, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders. Through this training, participants will gain in-depth understanding and practical strategies for assisting those in need.

Course Details: Two Modalities are offered: In-person or Virtual Breaks will be offered throughout the course for all sessions In-person sessions will offer 1 hour lunch break Virtual courses include a 2-hour self-paced portion of the course, which will be required to be completed before the course date.
The National Council for Mental Wellbeing requires instructors to meet specific requirements. One requirement is that each course must have a minimum of 5 participants to be held. If this participation requirement is not met, the course will be canceled. The instructor's communication will typically be provided 24-48 hours in advance.
Objectives
- Grow your knowledge of signs, symptoms and risk factors of mental illnesses and addictions.
- Identify multiple types of professional and self-help resources for individuals with a mental health or substance use challenge
- Increase your confidence in and likelihood to help an individual in distress.
- Show increased mental wellness in yourself.
